Can defaulting on my U.S.student loan hurt me? (I'm canadian)?

I am a canadian, living and unemployed in Canada. I did graduate school in U.S. and had a small student loan from a U.S. bank. I have been making my regular payments, but now may have to default. Will this affect my canadian credit rating?

If you are Canadian why do you have a US student loan first off. Yes it will affect your credit rating for many years. It will stay on your credit report
