Has anyone heard of American Platinum Financial Services?

Does anyone know how much you save using American Express Travel Services if you are a platinum card holder?

  • I've heard that you receive free companion tickets as a platinum member in the USA. This isn't the case in Oz but they say that they offer "substantial" savings on air travel when flying business or first class. I'm planning a RTW trip in business class with my husband and I'm wondering if it's worth it to pay the $400 fee to upgrade to platinum. Without this service it will cost around $20k for 2 x RTW tickets. Any advice would be appreciated.

    I'm a Centurion member, and when four of us were travelling on a BA flight from London to New York we all got upgraded to First Class from Business, so obviously that was a huge saving. Also, we got suites at the hotel and saved about $5,000.

I know that the Centurion card offers free companion tickets, but I hadn't heard that about the regular platinum card. If I were you, I'd contact Amex directly, and post the results for us... I'm also planning an RTW trip next year, but I'll be alone (unless I get a free companion pass... hmm...) [edit] So they want you to pay $400 and they won't tell you what you get in exchange? I'd tell them to fcuk straight off, and I'd cancel my account on the spot. They aren't the only game in town.
