How can I get my credit score higher quickly?

How do I get my credit score up?

  • I had a pretty good credit score at about 755, I then applied for a couple credit cards and it went down quite a bit. I want to get my score back up to where it used to so how is that possible?

  • Answer:

Having only a few credit cards is how to start. Having too many tells credit companies that you are frivolous with your money. You want to keep a balance of about 25% of your credit limit. This tells companies that you're using their card, but that you're spending isn't out of control. Companies also like you to make monthly payments rather than paying off your balance at the end of the month. This tells companies that you are trustworthy to pay them, even if you can't pay everything all at once. Remember, your credit is affected by more than just credit cards. Car payments, phone payments, utility payments and everything else monthly affects your credit scores. Just keep paying ON TIME and your score will slowly but surely rise.

As time goes by, those inquiries will have a lesser impact on your scores. Do not apply for more cards for a while, and don't apply unless you are quite sure you will be approved. The inquiries will stay on your history for two years. Numerous inquiries coupled with maxed-out credit lines are an indicator that you might be in financial trouble. Keep making your payments, bring your balances to below 40% of your credit limit on each of your accounts, and make sure that everything is current ALWAYS. The longer your good credit is standing, the more your score will rise. It mostly takes time to recover from a negative factor such as an inquiry.

tough question but simple answer just pay the bills and no defaults.

keep your credit cards at about half the balance and make the minimum payments on time. it makes no difference if you pay more then minimum.

Get your credit report and review it for negative items. This same thing happened to me last year and my credit score was 540. I found a great solution at http://www.your-credit-solution.com/creditsolutions.htm and now my credit score is 746. Good Luck!

The more credit you have actually hurts you. If you have too many cards out, it brings your credit down. Try having about 2 or 3 cards out like one gas card and two credit cards. You should be fine since the average vredit score is like 650 or something.
