My account is blocked how do I open?

How can someone open a savings account after being blocked by Check Systems(TM)?

  • Answer:

ChexSystems is a nationwide reporting agency that reports people who at one point or another, defrauded a bank, overdrew their account too many times, etc... A bank is not obligated to open an account for anyone who is reported on this list, and generally will not do business of any kind with someone who is on the list. The situation may be resolved by contacting ChexSystems directly to retain the information of why the person was listed and by what bank. If the person can resolve the situation with the bank, the person may be removed from ChexSystems. You may be able to locate a bank that does not participate with ChexSystems, but banking choices would be limited since ChexSystems services a large array of banks, including the one I work for. Also, if he is only looking to cash the check, he may do so at the bank at which the check is drawn off of. The bank is required to honor checks presented from their institution so long as proper identification is presented and funds are available. Contact Chex Systems, Inc. Mail: Chex Systems, Inc. Attn: Consumer Relations 7805 Hudson Road, Suite 100 Woodbury, MN 55125 Phone: By phone at 800-428-9623 or fax at 602-659-2197

This is not true. Even if you have a history of bouncing checks, as long as you meet the minimum deposit requirements, and residency requirements, you are able to open at least a savings account. The bank may not issue the person checks, but they will still be able to open an account. Check systems only verifies that the checks are 1. legal, 2. funded, and 3. under the maximum limit writable by the person. Even if they are black listed, you can open a checking account. You may n ot, however, be issued check cashing or writing privlages by the bank. It all depends on th e bank.

That could be true. He probably bounced a whole lots of checks for that to happen. One option is to maybe check to see if his employer has a credit union to open a savings account. Another is to contact CheckSystems and make good on all the negative balance he has left with the banks.
