You won't get a $35K loan with very bad credit.

You can call your creditors yourself, ask them to stop the interest, and make a payment plan on a settlement amount. Try for 20% if the debts are old, or 50%, I just negotiated 50% and then they gave me another 5% discount. If you have the ability to pay 400 then negotiate what ones you can for that amount. After those are paid off then you can work on the others. It just doesn't make sense to me to borrow money to pay back borrowed money, sorry.

NFCC.org Go to their site - call the 800 number. They will help you at no cost. If they put you on the wonderful DMP - its $25 a month - but only if you can afford it. You cannot get a loan for 35,000 with bad credit. You already have bad credit and a history of unpaid debts. No lender is going to give you a loan of 35,000. You should not even try to take on more debt at this time. A 35,000 loan is going to hurt you more than it helps you. The interest rate would be astronomical because you and your husband are not credit worthy. You can't pay back the debt you owe now. Why do you think it would make sense to take on even more debt than you already have? You would owe the loan company more than 35k in the end. 400 a month is nothing and the minimum payment would definitely be more than that. Loans always cost more than they are worth because you end up throwing money away on interest. A 35,000 loan with a 12% interest rate (BTW you would never qualify for a rate this low) payable over 5 years or 60 months is $778.56 per month. After 5 years or 60 months of never missing a payment you will have paid out $46,713.60. Does that sound like a solution to your problems? It isn't. A loan would dig you into a deeper financial hole. It would not help you get back on your feet. The way to get back on your feet is to pay your bills every month and make more than the minimum payment.
