What does the interview process look like for an Assistant Manager position at Walmart?

  • Hello, I have a second interview with an HR tomorrow and wondering what to expect. My first interview was with a Store Manager and apparently it went well given I received a call for a second. Should I expect a third? Note: I’m sure there are folks who hate Walmart, but I respectfully ask you to not comment on this matter……

  • Answer:

It hasn't normally been the practice of a store manager to interview for assistants. This is usually done by their superiors at their own store/office somewhere else. What is normal is that there are usually a series of different interviews with different questions often from different people. Chances are if you are only being interviewed by a store manager they are merely trying to help their market manager separate out some of the weaker candidates in the area. But no matter what your situation is, you'd be smart to follow up with the manager and ask with all due respect to be interviewed by the market manager or market HR person as well. At the very least, keep following up with whomever last interviewed you so that you don't get lost in the shuffle. This happens a lot especially in retail since retail grinds through A LOT of assistants. Good luck.
