If I sold something on eBay, how do I send it to the buyer?

Ebay buyer claims that they not recived item and ebay has refunded them even though i have proof of postage wh?

  • i sold a mobile phone on ebay and on my listing i gave him the option of having insurance on the postage and advised him not to send payment until i have sorted out the postage and he has told me how he wanted it posted so i can make sure i don't over charge for postage but he paid as soon as the auction finished so he just paid for normal postage so that is how i posted it i got proof of postage however the buyer then emailed me telling me that he hasn't received the item so i emailed him back advising him of everything about the postage and stuff but i do have proof of postage but he kept ignoring my emails and then he took it to ebay who has refunded him he stated that i didn't email him back and that i had been ignoring him but i have the emails that i sent him and i have the proof yet ebay has still refunded him were is the protection for sellers what is to stop all byers saying that they not received the item i full-filled everything in my add yet im the one who has come of the worse they now want the money back but the money has been spent what can i do about this as its not fair i have proof of posting but he has no proof that he hasn't received the item there has to be something i can do i have appealed to the decision but i doubt that will help who is there to protect the sellers

  • Answer:

You made mistakes and they will be costly. 1. "I have him the option of having insurance" is not an option any more. On eBay, you the seller must buy the insurance since it protects you not the buyer. You cannot charge the buyer for it as a separately stated item. If you fail to buy insurance, you take the hit. 2. "proof of postage" was what? A receipt for what you paid is not sufficient. If the item was worth less than $250, you need to have delivery confirmation. For $250 or more, you need a signed receipt. In all cases you must ship to the address on the Paypal account.

Sending items via "post with tracking" on eBay is absolutely essential. Especially with items that are expensive. It protects the buyer and the seller. The buyer has to pay for the postage, so it doesn't put you out of pocket to provide the extra expense of registered mail. When I buy anything on eBay, if it's not already stated in the listing, I always email the seller and confirm that they can send by registered mail if I pay the extra. Not only are people untrustworthy, but the postal service in every country seem to be able to lose parcels really easily when they don't have tracking.
