How does selling on eBay work?

How does Ebay work when selling a product - like how do you receive your payment?

  • So I sold an old, un-used sell phone on Ebay for $50. Already recieved payment (paypal), and they received it yesterday. So now it says that I have recieved $50. Is this put into my debit card that I have on file under PayPal, or do they save it on Ebay as a credit? I know how to use Ebay, just unsure on how you "recieve payment".. Thanks a bunch! XxX

  • Answer:

The money goes to your Paypal account. It will stay in your Paypal account until you tell Paypal what to do with it. If you want them to transfer the money to your debit card, log in to Paypal and click the "Withdraw Funds" button.

Paypal is, more or less, a bank. When they receive funds, the money stays there until you have it moved to another account (The one associated with your debit card) or use Paypal to pay for something. If you're going to do a lot of eBaying, look into SquareUp as a payment alternative.

The money stays in your PayPal account and you can use it to make purchases. Or you can request that PayPal deposit the money in to the bank account that you have on file with PayPal.
