Have you been Ad Sepped from the Navy?

• My husband, 14 years of service, was flown off of ship 9 mos ago due to cardiac problems. A heart cath showed minor non-obstructive heart disease. He was flown home due to the ship not wanting him to return since there was only 2 mos left in deployment. Ten days before the ship was to return from deployment, his command put him Limited Duty. He was told they needed another person of his rank/nec/job for upcoming qualifications. In February, a team of cardiologists decalred him fit for full duty, worldwide. His detailer told him he needed to re-enlist in order to receive orders. He re-enlisted with no problems, for 6 more years, which will take him to 20. He was cut a set of orders, back to the same ship that put him Limited Duty, for 2 ranks below him. The medical department (an E7) declined his orders without communicating with anyone. (His DIVO called asking when he was to report. He had no idea he had been declined.) The detailer said he wouldn't cut him another set of orders and gave him a 30 day notice to seperate on May 16th due to unfit for worldwide duty. The 30 day notice came with a contact number to which he called and the man stated that he has a right to appeal: Administrative Seperation board. He also stated that if my husband would have stayed limited duty instead of busting his behind to go full duty, he could have retired early with a medical discharge. But now, he is only facing an honorable, dishonorable, or general. As we network with folks, we find that a lot of people are being declined re-enlistment or being discharged via Ad Sep boards that have between 12-18 years in. Our theory is that they are weeding out folks who may have had a hiccup in their careers in order to not pay retirement and/or medical benefits.
