How do regular people get to endorse products and make millions of dollars?

Eventhough I'm not a celebrity, I would love to be fabulously rich just like the people who are celebs. People such as Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods have made tons of money from the sports they chose to play, but they also make millions of dollars from products they endorse. How can an ordinary person get to endorse products and make millions of dollars? Would I need an agent? Or try contacting the companies that make the products? I don't have an agent like Michael Jordan or Tiger Woods, but I use products everyday like they do. There's no rule that says you have to already be a rich superstar to endorse products and make a bigger fortune, is there?
