Has anyone out there has had LASEK recently?

Looking for anyone currently or recently employed with Wal-Mart who can answer a hiring question?

  • I was recently offered an assistant manager position with Wal-Mart and signed my background check consent yesterday, as well as went to take my drug test. My question is in regards to how stringent Wal-Mart's background check policy is and I am hoping someone who currently (or has recently) works there can help me. I have 3 misdemeanors on my criminal record and am concerned that this may remove me from the hiring process. To clarify, none of these are theft nor drug related charges (2 DUIs and 1 criminal mischief charge) and ALL are from 12-19 years ago. In addition, I have taken background checks for my last 5 employers and have never had a problem passing them and moving forward in the hiring process-one of which was an extensive FBI fingerprint check for a financial company. The bottom line is that in researching this, I have read all kinds of conflicting information about whether or not these will hinder my ability to accept this position, so I'm hoping that someone who actually has knowledge of Wal-Mart's policy on this can assist me. To give a bit more info: I live in GA, my drug test will come back fine, I have over 10 years of retail management experience, have never been terminated from a job, and haven't had any sort of legal issues since 2000, when I got my second DUI. (The other two charges were in 1993 and 1995). I have to put in a notice at my current employer and am just concerned that there is a chance that after doing so, my background check will prevent me from starting my recently offered position with Wal-Mart. Please don't waste time replying with any sarcastic comments referring to how I am 'getting what I deserve'--I already am quite aware that what I did in the past was wrong and I was very young and acted foolishly and have since completely changed my lifestyle. I don't need a pious, condescending statement from someone--I am just looking for some sort of definitive answers in regards to this from someone who actually is familiar with Wal-Mart's policy on background checks. Thanks so much in advance for any help you can provide!

  • Answer:

They are mostly looking for felonies and anything related to money crimes and shoplifting. You should be fine, especially seeing how it was a long time ago.

I am employee of Walmart since August 2011, As long as you were honest on the job application and anwsered yes or no honestly to the questions that asked if you were convicted of a felony or misdemeanor charge then you should have nothing to worry about.
