Turning in application and Interview at Starbucks?
-
I'm going in to Starbucks today to turn in my application. I know I should ask for the manager, but once I'm led to the manager, or the manager comes to me, what do I say? Do I just thrust the application into his/her hands? Should I expect an interview right on the spot? If so, what do I say? If anyone has experienced an interview at Starbucks, what type of questions will they be asking, and how do I respond? Please help.. Thank you =]

Answer:
My daughter is a shift supervisor at Starbucks, and has filled in as temporary assistant manager at her store. She, also, is sent to other stores to help train new shift supervisors. I just called her to ask about your question. She is at work and couldn't talk for long, but this is what I found out from her: You do not have to hand the application to the store manager, but it helps. If the store manager is not in ask for the shift supervisor and give her/him the application. You may not necessarily be interviewed on the spot, but present yourself as if you are just in case. Dress neat, clean, and professional. If you have long hair have it tied neatly back. If you have multiple piercings, remove them except for one set of ear studs. If you have any tattoos, dress so they are covered (no visible patches). When you turn in your application, smile of course and say something to the effect to how much you would like to work for them, of course have a good answer ready for when they ask you why ;) As for the interview, a couple of sample questions would be; why you want to work for Starbucks, what do you like about coffee. Of course there will be the standard interview questions as well about your work history and such. My daughter has been with Starbucks for almost 3 years now. It is a great company to work for, especially if you are a student. They will schedule you around your school schedule. After working for them one year you may eligible to apply for some financial assistance for you education if you worked enough hours to qualify. You only need to work 20 hr/wk to be eligible for health benefits after your probation period. Good luck! You can contact me through my profile (just click on my avatar) if you have any other questions, I will ask her for you.
