My FedEx tracking update says delivery exception what does it mean?

What does "Shipment Exception - Undeliverable Package" mean on the FedEx Tracking Page?

  • I ordered something late Wednesday night this week with overnight delivery. I doubt that I would have gotten it by Thursday, so I expected getting it on Friday. When a I got a confirmation e-mail, they also gave me a tracking code which allowed me to track my package. The estimated delivery date was Friday afternoon. However, Friday morning when I checked the status again, it says that it's location is at a FedEx facility a few towns over, but the status of the delivery says "SHIPMENT EXCEPTION." Under details, it says "UNDELIVERABLE PACKAGE." There hasn't been a single scan since yesterday morning. What does this mean? Why is my package undeliverable? When will I receive it? The most frustrating thing is that it was supposed to be an overnight delivery yet here I am 3 days from when I ordered it with no package.

there's a bad address on the package or and apt or suite number is needed. call fed ex to resolve the problem 1-800-go fedex. give them the tracking number
