Few questions about paypal and ebay?

I have Ebay/Paypal questions (10 points for best answer)?

  • 1) Do you HAVE to print a shipping label for Ebay? I am not aware of how the 'flat rate boxes' and 'flat rate envelopes' and all of that junk of how it works.. I'd rather just get my own box.. hand write my name and addresses on the box/envelope and take to the Post Office and ship it myself.. Is that allowed? and if so.. Do I get my payment way later than I would if it were just printed off on ebay? #2) I have Ebay selling fees.. Okay.. Account balance means ebay fees, right? And if so.. How do I pay them with Paypal? Does Ebay automatically take it out of Paypal when its due? And if you don't have the money there in Paypal yet.. do they take it out of your bank account? #3) If you sell stuff on Ebay and you accept paypal.. does paypal take THEIR fee out of your payment for the item you sold? or out of your bank account? #4) Are your shipping fees taken out of your payment for the item or out of your bank account?? I AM SO CONFUSED! PLEASE HELP?!!!

  • Answer:

    1) No, you just "mark the item as shipped", there is a tab for that under 'more options'. The way you ship your item has nothing to do with how you get paid. Wait until your payment clears in Paypal, then write down all of the shipping info, then ship however you choose. 2) Ebay automatically take out the money you owe them. Yes, it will get deducted from your verified banking account if you do not have the funds in Paypal. 3) Paypal automatically takes their cut up front. It's instant. 4) Shipping fees are included with your ebay account fees. It's all one thing. So they are added into you ebay fees and deducted from your paypal account on the due date. They send you a message through your ebay email, giving you the due date.

Jenny has given a very good answer. You should also be aware that you need to use some form of online tracking when you mail the package. If you use the post office you will need Delivery Confirmation. If the item sells for over $200 then you need to use signature confirmation. In other words they must sign to get the package. Without this you lose much of your PayPal protection. If you can not prove that the package was actually delivered they can claim they never got it and get their money back.
