How to deal with difficult customers?

How to deal with rude customers and controlling co workers?

  • I'm a college student and I've been working as a cashier at a small grocery store for a year now. I'm still having trouble figuring out how to deal with customers that complain and co workers trying to control me or mess with me(I'm the youngest there) I seem to take everything too personally but I'm not rude. How can I learn to deal with people like this better?

  • Answer:

Perhaps you should speak to the manager and see if they have company policies for dealing with this kind of thing. bear in mind when customers complain it is usually about an issue so don't take it personally. If you thank them for bringing something to your attention and advise you will pass it to the manager they will realise you care. Co workers need to be controlled by the manager. There are always going to be workplaces like this unfortunately. maybe just tell them straight out that you do not appreciate being spoken to like that. Good luck
