How does bidding on ebay work for sellers?

• Ok, I have a few old things i would want to sell on ebay. I am not exactly sure though how this bidding process works. For example, if i am selling a product worth $150, and people bid on it, however the highest bid is only $75, then is the buyer required to accept that payment and ship the item? Or can the buyer cancel it because the money they got was not enough?

  Another option would be to start the bidding low and put a "reserve" on the listing. So if you have something that's worth $150 but you really want to get at least $100 for it, you can start the bidding at $.99 with a reserve of $100. Then if the bidding only goes up to $75 then the listing ends without a sale. I think you are better going with a lower starting price. I agree with what was already mentioned, people want to get a bargain and they may see a starting bid of $100 and just pass it over. The same person may end up paying over $100 when they get caught up in the bidding and "out bidding" that happens on eBay. Keeping on the topic of 'bargain' if your item is worth $150 eBay may not be the avenue for selling it.
