What are the best office buildings in the world?

Why Britain has the worst, impolite and rude customer service representatives in the World?

  • Why Britain has the worst, impolite and rude customer service representatives in the World(85-90% of them unfortunately)? You will find them everywhere-in the post office, in the stores, hospitals, restaurants, government buildings, at the banks etc. No, no, no. Please Don't say "if you don't like it here -go to your country" That's not the answer or the solution to one of the huge problems we have here in this country? You have to face the realities, and do something to find the solutions to the problems without living 50 years back in the history? No customer service representative can work in USA, Canada or any other country(I've been to(I've been in many countries) the way they work here in UK, and are getting paid for being rood and impolite with the customers. If they don’t do a good job just kick them out-there are so many polite friendly, clean and educated Europeans looking for jobs?

Sorry a lot of this must be you and the way you approach the representatives, personally i find if I am pleasant ,cheerful and polite , the other person usually is too, I get on well with most people and can not agree with your findings at all. :Lots of very nice people about, Sounds like you might be a rude , demanding arrogant sort of person, who expects people to fawn over him ,, Not so , no matter what they do elsewhere, if you are not polite , even if a customer or client, then you cannot expect the civility you are looking for. So next time you want assistance , say Hi . I wonder if you could ; help me , ask, don't demand, sounds like you are demanding subservience , not assistance

I agree that the service is very poor but I don't think we are the worst in the world. One reason is that the training is not always sufficient and customer service not always taught, some of the places you have mentioned are extremely busy and the reception, teller, shop workers etc. are working through the queue, another reason is that Britain is so Cosmopolitan that we have such a lot of different cultured people serving who may not be being rude just misunderstood. Our pay structure is also very poor and the divide between the highly paid IT jobs and some of the working unskilled jobs where the pay has not really increased for years, you will find that the minimum wage is often the norm in a lot of the jobs you mentioned. HAVE A NICE DAY NOW.

I agree to a point. Have you seen the 'Little Britain' character 'Carol' who keeps saying 'Computer says no'? . I find it incredibly funny because I have met people in managerial/customer service positions in the UK who weren't far short of that particular mark!!!

It's because (a) they think serving people is beneath them; (b) they are not paid much so therefore don't try much; (c) they are not on a pay scheme that rewards good behaviours.

Poor training by employers. Where do you get your figure of 85-90%?
