What happens if I win a bid on Ebay and Don't pay? Will the second highest bidder just get it?

Answer:
If you do not pay, the seller will open a dispute after (x) days. You will be notified by ebay and if you do not respond, your account could be closed. The seller can offer the item as a 'Second Chance' to the second highest bidder.

The idea of any auction is that the highest bidder wins the item, unless there is a reserve on the item. The bidder should only bid if they can pay for the item, as you bid and won the item then you should pay for the item. The seller could offer the item to the runner up, but if the runner up does not want the item then the item will remain unsold. As you won the item then the seller could report you to ebay for paying for the item and will leave you negative feedback.

no, it's not that simple. the seller will keep invoicing you and eventually go through ebay's resolution centre. this means ebay will keep contacting you requesting payment, and it will affect your ebay rating and could get your account closed down. by the time that's done, the second highest bidder can be offered the item, but they've probably already bought something else and don't want it. if you've won the bid but know you don't want it and don't intend to pay you'd be best off messaging the seller now and being honest so they can re-offer or re-advertise it straight away.

If you contract to buy something - and that's what you do when you bid on ebay - you are expected to pay. If you don't, the seller will report you to ebay - and you could find yourself permanently banned from the site if you do it more than once.

no, bidding is basically signing a contract. if you win, you have to pay. if you dont they'll send a collection agency, so its much easier on you to just pay.

Just be very careful on Ebay. I didn't know much about it when I joined and truthfully didn't know that they charge you for everything you sell.--------After I sold a few things they sent me a message saying I owed them £17.35p.---I was surprised as I never new they took a percentage but intended to pay it but just let time slip by.-----They reacted to this like money lender thugs.Threatening emails, about three each day and then they started ringing my home number at all times of the day and night, even one at 3am.-----I ended up so mad at this reaction for such a small sum, that I decided I wouldn't pay it at all so they blocked me from ebay. They increased their phoning that I had to pay BT to block their number, then they started the "lawyer" letters. All this for £17.35p.The way they reacted you would think I owed them thousands. Be careful.

No one can force you to pay, neither can ebay. The worst that can happen is you lose your account, and that is if 2 sellers open non-paying disputes against you. I had 3 non-payers last month, caused alot of problems to my business.
