What is a purchase charge on a gift card?

Has anyone used Target.com E-Gift Cards and the order total was higher than the gift card?

  • Has anyone ever used an E-Gift Card on the Target website? My dad got me a Target e-Gift-card to buy my son a snowsuit. They do not have snowsuits in his size range on the website, and I found out the e-card can only be used for a purchase on the website. So I used the e-giftcard to order a regular gift card on line... They charged me $1.50 for shipping (should have only cost them a stamp) so the balance was more than what the e-card was for. So I gave them my credit card number, and the e-card #. It didn't differentiate how much they would charge the credit card. I re-entered the e-card # (several times along the way); each time it said that the e-card had already been applied to the balance... but on the ending page, it showed the full amount, and said "method of payment Visa"... Did they charge my credit card for the whole thing or did they really apply the e-card like they said? Please answer only if you've used the Target.com e-gift cards (not with just a guess)... thanks!
