What is refund reference number and how do bank staff check if an amount is deposited to my account using it?
-
I had cancelled a train ticket from cleartrip and they tell me it was refunded on 23rd September.. But I checked my bank statement yesterday and found no mention of that amount.. I contacted cleartrip and they provided me RRN number (refund reference number) and asked me to give that to my State Bank Of India branch and said the bank staff would able to trace the refund amount.. It was a 12-digit number.. How can the bank check that??

Answer:
While crediting the refund amount in one's account, the railway company provides all the details to the concerned bank, including Refund Reference Number.
