Can a 14 year old sign for a Fedex package?

Could a 14 year old sign for an expensive FedEx package?

  • My new $1,200 PC will be arriving sometime today but I'm afraid that I'll be busy and my younger sister will be the only one here. Can she sign for my Computer?

  • Answer:

If the package is marked "Signature Service" or "Signature Required" there is no age limit, however the driver has discretion as to who he or she will let sign for the package. With a 14 year old, it could go either way. If the package is marked "Adult Signature Required" the driver will only release it to someone who has positive ID indicating that they are 21 or older.

most parcel companies require an adult to sign for packages if the option for signing is given. not all parcels require signing for, this is an extra-cost option the sender would choose, but it is usually chosen for high-value items for delivery confirmation.
