Has anyone ever heard of a site called Pennyburners.com, it seems like a scam I just want to know if it is?

So Christmas is around the corner and I have been searching for ways to get cheap electronics, I came across a penny auction website and wanted to know more about it. So I searched if penny auctions were a scam and this site called Pennyburners.com came up. Something doesn't seem right. Like they promote certain ones and shun others. I just want to know how legit (if at all) are their reviews and should I stay away from sites like that? Please, intelligent answers only.

This is actually a good question, a few months back I had gotten involved with penny auction websites. I tried to do as much research as I could on the sites I was visiting and I too came across pennyburners.com. I have read all the reviews on that website and yes, it does seem fishy. If you ever notice, all the sites that pennyburners.com promotes closely follow the same website layout. Some of them are exactly the same. Now if you look at the sites that they write bad reviews about, the author seems to get into detail about why those sites are scams, even going so far as to post a picture of a site owner and accuse him of fraud. That is slander. Now I love how the "author(s)" get so deeply involved in their articles, going so far as to advertising the "Verified Penny Auction" websites. This is how I know this article website is a scam. It is one thing to write a good or a bad review about a website, it is another to go so far as slander one and advertise another. It is as if they are either being paid to advertise the "verified" ones or they own the "verified" ones. And FYI if you ever come across a site that has a listing saying these are "verified" websites, it is another way of expressing an opinion about the site. Unless it has a United States Federal Government stamp of approval (which I do not know if one actually exists for websites) then it is just an opinion to persuade potential clients towards their business. Take my advice, stay away from those sites and definately stay away from pennyburners.com. Wait until black Friday and go to best buy or something. I hope I was helpful! Thanks, Don

Penny auction sites are not really auction sites. They are expensive entertainment. With these sort of auctions, you purchase bids (which can range from forty cents to a dollar each). The basic premise is that a product is on "auction" with a set time until the game ends. A the end whoever is the bidder wins the product at the price of the bid. The bid will start at something low and go up by a small increment every time somebody bids. With many of them, the time goes up by some number of seconds also. To make them more maddening, if a bid is made in the last 10 seconds, the time is extended by another increment. The real problem with these sites is that they are a great disservice to the customer. If you want to throw away money by bidding on them, have at it, but don't enter bids with the expectation of ever winning anything. The only clear winner in these schemes is the seller, the site itself. They collect an incredible number of bids before the game ends, and could more than afford to just give you the product at that point. On a television I looked at recently, the site gained about $5000 due to bids, and the tv finally went for about $600. It was a bargain for the winner (maybe) but a LOT of other people along the way spent tons of money without any return. I wouldn't play any of these, but if you must, don't bid at all until the very last second. Only bid when there is very little traffic. You may find you will be able to grab the product if the game ends sometime in the middle of the night when everyone else is asleep. Be aware that this is a fleeting time, as the US has time zones spanning 6 hours. Hawaii is 6 hours behind East Coast, though a lot of these places won't ship big things to Hawaii due to the cost. Oh, that brings up another thing. Most of the sites also charge you for shipping, even after all the money they've made. Most of them aren't illegal, but some do border on illegal practices. A place called PennyBiddr got nabbed by the Washington Attorney General, and I wouldn't be surprised to see more of these actions as time goes on. Remember, these aren't really auction sites, they are ENTERTAINMENT sites. If you are entertained by watching the action, fine, just don't get caught up in the excitement and spend the grocery money...

Penny auction websites make money, remember you have to buy the bids first before you can use them for a CHANCE to get the item. This doesn't mean that you absolutely won't win. But watch carefully on the winners, esp. pennyburners.com's websites they promote. Some winners win the auction either ridiculously low or they win them for more then what the item actually costs in a retail store. SCAM! All of the sites it promotes are SCAM sites. I wouldn't doubt it if all of the ones it doesn't promote are scams also. Like what the one guy said, just wait until the items go on sale in a store then buy them. If you want to chance it with the penny websites then definately don't choose the ones that pennyburners.com verified and didn't verify. hope this was helpful.
I like Donald's answer, dude stay away from that site its a SCAM! Not even kidding bro there is a website called ripoffreport.com that has a few reports of this website. The name of the dude is Nicholas Boccio, hes the site owner. I'ts run thru godaddy.com, whois.domaintools.com has more info about him.
