Does anyone know anything about Merchant Referral Solutions?

Does anyone know anything aboyt Dereon Inc. Smart Solutions.?

  • I have posted my resume on Dreambuilders and some company for secret shoppers responded to me. Is there anyone who have experience with this company.

  • Answer:

Jessica, You are about to fall for a scam if you respond. If you want to know how the scam works, just ask here. It's simple - any check they will send you may clear your bank at first, but then will bounce. Do not under any circumstances wire money to anyone you do not know or give them access to your checking account information. Also google "Work at Home Scams". You'll also get many emails on this scam. Get smart - and be careful. This particular company has many posting on scam websites...

As a result of posting resume on careerbuilder, monster/yahoo hotjobs, etc. I got a spam from a company calling themselves Dereon Inc. saying I could become a secret shopper, make lots of money, asking where is the closest wal-mart to me, etc. The hyperlink to their website from the email is http://bit.ly/ePt40A. I didn't click on it because the ".ly" in the domain name indicates it is hosted out of Libya and ghe real Dereon Inc. is a company that sells clothing "house of dereon" as in "fashion house". A good rule of thumb is that if a job opportunity sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Scam. If you notice the e-mail(s) come in your in box, but are not posted on the Job site (mine was Career-builders they got my name from) and you can not reply to the e-mail it will bounce back. It is a country out of the USA, they collect your info and sell it to scam companies. You will get more of the same offers under different names. I worked for a Staffing Company that hired Secret Shoppers that was legit. You will never make $2000 a month secret shopping. If you notice the odd use of words and phrases in the e-mail you'll see they have probably used a language translator. Also, they will later ask for your bank account number (NEVER GIVE IT OUT ON LINE) for depositing your check. Or send you a larger check and ask you to deposit it and send part of it somewhere else. By the time you do this the bank will hit your acct. with a bounced check and more charges, it is a fake check. To do Secret Shopping you do not need to give out your birthday or acct. numbers and only have to be of working age. I have one friend that was scammed out of $2000 and another one that was on her way to deposit the check at her bank and then wire some of it somewhere else, when I convinced her to call the bank regarding the check first. They confirmed it wasn't real and said they had 7 more at their bank just like it. NEVER GIVE MONEY TO GET A JOB!

The same thing happened to me. I put my resume on Career Builder site and the same Dereon, Inc. contacted me. I searched the name on Been Verified and there is no listing of the company. They are a scam. Don't bother with this company. Another source may be the Better Business Bureau. As a Mystery shopper myself, I have never had a company contact me in this manner.

Usually you don't have to be that smart (no offense to anyone with posts to this thread as I almost fell for one of these years ago when they first started but was immediately suspicious of the income offered with little to no effort on my part) to figure these scams out. Although the scammers (I won't call them "artists" because they're not that smart to begin with & there is certainly no "art" to what they're doing) have become much more elaborate and careful in recent years in terms of having websites that look professional and actually having content from every link you click on their site (a few years ago they weren't that good) they can never seem to speak proper English in their initial e-mails. Typing errors, misspelled words, and strange wording are all red flags! If they could just get someone that could speak fluent enough English to send out their e-mails they might have more luck! Lol! The reason for the broken English and misspelled words of course is because they're in some other country typing up this e-mail after listening to two or three tapes of "Hooked on Phonics"! Lmao! They have also become more patient in there attempted scams. It used to be that on their "contracts" they would ask you for very personal information right off the bat like SS# and or account and routing numbers, but they've learned that tips even the most naive of prospects off so they've made it a little more "difficult" to get to where you start making your “5K a week job for only 10-15 hours per week” so you're hopefully more likely to think it's legit! I like to go to their sites & register fake names with fake e-mails and information and just taunt them! I would LOVE to get my hands on a group of them & have them tied up in a basement somewhere for a few days! After I got done with them they would NEVER try to scam anyone again I can assure you that! Anyway, what ever you decide to do about it please at least report them to your respective job search site they solicited you through so they can remove their access and or profile. That's the only way we can get them off there. Will they contact you again under some other fake company name? Almost certainly, but we have to do something to try to combat this crap! I would also like to have the person that’s here in the states selling them this information alone in a basement for a few days! They're worse than the scammers if you ask me! Great advice from everyone that posted a reply except for the first guy! Maybe he is part of the whole racket! Come one Tristan! If you’re not a part of all this then it’s a good thing everyone of us replied after you so you can be edumicated (this might be one of the words they try to use in their initial e-mail to you Tristan~Lol!) as well! It just supports that old adage "If it sounds too good to be true it probably is"! Happy job hunting all! SCAM THE SCAMMERS! Have a little fun and F with them! It might give you a little satisfaction! I will put address’ like 5050 Ohsoclose St. or 1234 Gotohell Ave! Lmao!

My email came from a hotmail account - Fatima Rodgers [[email protected]] so I was immediately suspicious. Even when it looks good, it may not be. The site looks ok except I do not believe that a hotmail account came out of that site. If it truly was a Dereon employee, it would have their correct email address. Never give money out to get a job - there are a lot of these with the economy like it is right now. Never use your account or give out any of that information.

Thank you everyone for your help. I just received an e-mail, luckily I am smart and went to google first. :)

I'm going through the same thing. I did a search for the company and researched their addresses which none of them tie to a company named Dereon Inc. There is no trace of them in the Better Business Bureau database either. I say, bypass them before sending your personal info. Best of luck in your job search!

Thanks to all of you for providing your experiences with Dereon Inc. I'm not happy with them, but I'm extremely angry with Career Builder for being the source of almost daily barrage of BS and scams, this simply being the latest. As a job site they seem to be worthless. Actually, worse than worthless. The automatic "job notices" waste my time, waste my resources and now have nothing whatever to do with a anything resembling a legitimate job search.
