How to extract data from any website?

I want to extract the data (only title, year, genre) from imdb website and use it commercially is this legal?

They want people to license their database for $10,000+ which is way too much. I understand that some things can't be copyrighted. I believe Title, and Year is one of these things. What about Genre? (because gengre is more of an opinion in some rare cases)...I will be using this movie and tv show titles on my own website sorted by year and genre. Also, what happens if they put in some 'fake' movie title to catch anyone who is stealing their data? It doesn't matter right? because they provided that info as a legitamate movie? errrr somebody help me pleeeease. The guys at imdb are ignoring me because obviously they want more money. :)

it sounds like it is probably illegal but you should really be consulting a lawyer not asking it on here. A lawyer may be able to find loopholes in the law and you are not going to find a qualified lawyer on here who is going to give you free advice
