When working in customer service, how do you handle rude customers?
-
There are some that take advantage of "the customers always right" motto, and they think its OK to be rude, condescending, or deliberately nasty. They often say "I pay your wages" to justify their rudeness. The company says not to respond or react. Customer service associates are to take this treatment and I dont thinks its healthy. What should be done about this. I dont think its fair to consider having to get a different carreer on account of those undesirable customers.

Answer:
Be calm and very, very polite. If you feel overwhelmed, perhaps you can tell them that you can see they are frustrated and perhaps they would prefer to talk to a manager or supervisor.
