Can I drive by myself with my junior license in New York?

With a New York Junior license, can I drive alone in Florida?

  • I live in New York, but am planning on a job in Florida for the summer. Will I be able to stay at a relative's house and drive back and forth from work? I will have a Junior License by then. In New York with a junior license, you can drive to and from work or school alone. This is not to be confused with a Permit which requires parents in the car.... Thank you for your answers!!!

  • Answer:

Probably, but I would contact Florida's DMV 800 number and actually ask & have them send you a handbook too. You may have to get another license there. Contact your insurance agent with the address you will be staying at (they set rates by zip code) and ask him what he knows about Florida's laws. I'm sure he has alot of customers who go down there in the winter. They will deduct what you already paid if more. You may have to get it registered there too. Don't for get to ask about that too. Since it's only a summer job and not your permanent residence, maybe not. Good luck and have fun down there.
