How do you convince your parents to let you get a driving permit?

How can I convince my parents to let me get my learner's permit? (Please read details)?

  • I'm well past 16 now, and my parents still won't let me get my learner's permit. I've had a job now for more than three years and am both willing and able to comply with my parents' demand that I purchase not only a (used) car but also the necessary gas and insurance to accompany it. My GPA is well above 4.0, and I take some of the most rigorous AP and IB courses offered at my school. I am involved at church and at school in addition to doing volunteer work -- believe me, I'm not trying to sound stuck up, merely trying to make the point that I'm a mature and responsible teen. Obviously, there would be definite benefits for my parents to allow me to purchase my car, to get my permit, and to eventually get my license. I have three younger siblings in addition to the stressed out and over-scheduled parents that I depend upon to get to work and to school -- basically as my primary mode of transportation (I do take the city bus regularly, but it's not always reliable, unfortunately. )

  • Answer:

a learners permit should be acceptable ,does your school have drivers Ed. you need that for your 10% insurance savings. Tell them that you want them to teach you how to be safe driving . of course take their driving record in account.
