Is a 351 Windsor engine from a 1994 f-150 a good engine to build a 408 stroker?

  • Is a 351 Windsor engine from a 1994 f-150 a good engine to build a 408 stroker. Want to build a 408 stroker for fox body mustang. I think this is a hydraulic roller engine and I think that is better than solid lifters? The 69 -74 blocks are stronger but would this 90's block be acceptable? Disregard my previous question I mixed up the years. Thank you for your help.

    you would be fine and very happy with the end results but it would be more cost effective to build a 302 into a stoker

Sure. The only work that needs to be done on the block is a notch at the bottom of the bores to clear the rod bolts. I have a 351W stroked to 427 in my '89 Mustang & I love it. Kept the compression low enough for pump gas, & used the factory fuel injection system with some upgrades, & it will cruzz all day. Heater, a/c, power steering, all moved from the 5.0 to the W with some new brackets. Went a bit over board on the heads, but it's still very street able, even at 550 hp. It's currently spread-out on the garage floor for the winter tweaking, but should be ready for spring, if it ever gets here.
