• Hi All, Last year my wife passed Learners permit test on first attempt but couldn't give driving test because of delivery and her license got expired. We tried to renew her expired license but we cam to know that she had to write test again because learners permit was expired. This time she passed her test on 3rd attempt today and they gave her 7 years valid Learners permit and charged $35 fees. I am really not sure why did they give her 7 years valid just learners permit and charged $35. Their site shows $3/year. http://www.dmv.state.va.us/webdoc/citizen/fees.asp Anyone has any idea ? Is it normal they give 7 years valid just learners permit ? or they are making some extra revenue ? becuase within one year she will get her Permanent driver license which will cost us again $4/year ?
