You might want to go into a law category and ask this one. This is a legal issue, but be more specific regarding what the felony was for, and what state you are in. That would be useful information.

Discrimination comes in many forms! Go to the "source", the Licencing Commission, Humane Rights Advocate, Employment Standards, and get the "correct" answer to your question. Don't make negative statements in your question, when you have no idea if this even exists. When you know your rights you will feel far more confident in your application to return to your "trucking" job. You most certainly can get this "felony" charge expunged - after 7-years! Call the local free Legal Clinic in your area.

Discrimination for sexual orientation, religion, race etc. are indeed illegal. To use what little wisdom is still allowed o protect the load, vehicles and the highways isn't, it's prudent. As for you felony; It COULD cause you some difficulty, but not necessarily. As long as you don't desire a "Hazmat", chances are you can still drive. It is up to the company and their insurance carrier. Call around and see. You may be limited to hauling dirt or local freight. Maybe not. You might call the nice folks at Falcon Truck School in the Bay Area of California for some answers. The number is (707) 643-1700, or try their web-site at Falcontruckschool.com

i,ll put it this way ,they look at what the charge was before they usually make a decision on it,if it wasn't anything major they might consider it,i do know people who have felony's and are still driving trucks,it all depends on the company, and you, good luck hope this helps.

It All Depends On The Company There Policies And What Your Charge Was But Most Companies Only Go Back 5 Yrs And Some 10 Yes Its Illegal To Discriminate Against Anyone But It Would Be Very Hard To Prove That They Are. Because Most Applications Tell you That A Charge May Or May not Effect Your Eligibility To Be Hired But Ur Charge Is Over 12 yrs Old So Honestly I Wouldn't Say Anything Unless They Ask You! That's What I Did And I Still Haven't Been Asked And Mine Had Only Been 6 yrs Ago!

They're NOT discriminating. You have a FELONY, the highest class of crimes the government recognizes. They can choose to hire you or not solely on your criminal and driving history.

It would depend on your charge. In some cases you would not be allowed to leave the state, which is a major not-to-do if you want your trucking license. However, as I said, depending on your charge, it is legal for them to turn you away because of your felony.

Zera

It is not illegal however most trucking companies will hire drivers with felonies. You should be ok.

Mike Hunt

If it was vehicular manslaughter I wouldn't hire you.
