Car Over Heated Have A Simple Question. Smart People Answer?
-
My car over heated about two days ago. I was just backing it out of the driveway not even half way when the red light came on. I turned the car of immediately and got out. We opened the hood and it smelled like something burned and of smoke. To the eye there was no smoke, none of the white smoke either. I called triple A and they picked it up. The next day I got a phone call saying there seemed to be absolutely nothing wrong with my car other then me needing an oil change badly. I drove it home, but I only drove it for 10 minutes and it seemed fine. But I have errands to do today but I am scared of it over heating. Now for people saying do not drive a car because your ignorant and don't know cars then lay off. I know certain things about cars. But I travel and work picks me up, because I am a traveling vet. I got the oil changed and had the car inspected in everyway, shape, and form possible. Jiffy Lube told me the car is okay due to their knowledge I just needed an oil changed. I am asking because the one thing I do not do on my car at home is the oil changing. So is it okay to drive my car? My only main question is that. And, was the fact of my car over heating was due to the oil not being changed enough? Simple, now can someone smart and educated in cars answer my question. Thank you.

Answer:
no it was not. but what i think might of happened and this happened to me is that they do have an oil sensor that will come on when you need to change the oil sucks but it was real on my 2005, as for the smell and the heat just keep an eye out when you park it for any oil leaks or water drips .

Jiffy Lube only proves you shouldn't be driving a car. Jiffy Lube employs no mechanics, only teenage wanna be's who can change oil successfully, provided they don't strip out the drain plug. Take it to a real mechanic shop and see what THEY say.

You already got your answer now quit asking this. This is why I'm so mean to you. In your other question you said you don't know anything about engines, transmissions, wiring. But the only thing you don' do is change the oil so you work on it? Someone's lying.
