My horn will not work on my Honda Civic 2007?

Just got into a accident. I have a 2007 Honda Cr-v and while i was moving the brakes didnt work and hit a car.?

  • I hit the car pretty hard because it was brake faliure "i think" Also the air bage and the seat belt work. Is this a manufacutres defect ? and can do anything with the accident. ? Would I be able to get a new car or will they fix the air bages or something ?

  • Answer:

did you check the brake fluid level, it is necessary for the hydraulic action to engage the brakes. are the rotors or drums frozen? how about is the brake cable linkage connected?

are you sure you hit the brakes and not the gas?

I'm not sure I fully understand the question here. Your brakes failed, and as a result you hit another car, quite hard. As a result your air bags deployed. Am I correct so far> "Is this a manufacturers defect?" No, the air bags are supposed to deploy when you have a front end crash causing rapid deceleration when you are over a certain speed. Or are you asking if the brakes not working were a manufacturers defect? If so, no. They worked until today, and brakes, like tires and other wear parts, are supposed to be checked and maintained by you. "Can I do anything with the accident?" Yes. Report it to your insurance company, and they will get the car you hit repaired since the accident was your fault. If you have collision coverage they will cover your damage also. "Will I get able to get a new car?" Sure, if you go buy one. As a reward for an accident, of course not, if that's what you're asking. "Will they fix the air bags or something?" Again, if you have coverage, they will either fix the car, or if the costs are too high, total it and give you fair market value less your deductible amount. If that wasn't what you were asking, add detail. Added: what do you mean the seat belts didn't work? If the air bags didn't deploy, you probably were not at the target speed, or didn't decelerate fast enough, or it wasn't a frontal hit. But that's probably good, replacing air bags gets very expensive.

The insurance company will, for sure, be able to tell whether or not it was brake failure or brake malfunction. They can test all of that stuff, especially the new models like you have! Even if it was brake failure, that does not mean that you are clear. You have a responsibility to maintain your car. Only if there is a clearly defective part (and they issue a recall) can you 'get out of this one'...and that is a maybe ~Do not~ 'cry wolf" (say that it was brake failure) if , indeed, it was not. You will be a liar, and they won't believe anything else you say.

It sounds like you are trying to find someone else to blame for your accident. Most likely, you were not paying close enough attention and didn't brake soon enough. If there were a defect in the car, that would not absolve you of responsibility because you are (by law) responsible for the condition of the car that you are driving.

Your insurance if your carry collision and comp will cover your damage. If you only carry liability, then you are on your own. As to the brakes not working-only you can answer that. If the system failed due to lack of maintenance on your part then no there is nothing you can do. if it was found to be a manufactors defective part then I suppose that is what lawyers are for.

Your insurance doesn't cover. Trust me, I work at FakeInsuranceCompany.

Call a Honda dealer and ask them if there has been any recalls on these for brake problems.

The brakes probably DID work, they are Anti-Lock Brakes and will keep "pumping" the hydraulics to keep the wheels from locking up. You can have the brakes independently inspected and I think you will be told the same thing, they are ABS and they will feel like they are not working, but they are if you are familiar with them. You can't pump them or you will lose braking time. If you step hard on them, you will be surprised how well they work.. If you were going to fast for the conditions, you likely wouldn't have stopped before impact anyway.
