My cdl got suspended for a year an i have a dui will that stop me from getting a job?

No matter what job you apply for you will have to explain the DUI. It will be difficult, but definately possible for you to find a job depending on the hiring manager and how well you can explain the situation. I would recommend you have a good explanation as to how the DUI happened, what you learned from it and why it will not happen again. For some companies their company insurance prevents them from hiring personnel who have a recent DUI or recent misdemeanor so do not take it personally if you get turned away. Keep motivated and apply away. The DUI is in the past and it's about what you can do today.

In the US, Think about it, jobs are hard enough to find, as an employer which would you rather employ and insure as a driver, someone with or without a DUI? but then again I don't think you need a drivers license to work at McDonald's. sounds to me you shot yourself in the foot when it comes to ever driving a truck again.

You're not going to get a driving job for 2-3 years with any reputable firm that has to insure you. You might be able to work independent, but it's not going to be easy to overcome that.

Maybe. You won't get a job as a driver. Some companies will do a background check and may not hire you with a DUI on your record, even for a job which requires no driving. Don't drink and drive.
