What can I expect on my driver's license test?
-
How easy or hard is the behind the wheel driving test for a license? How long does it last? What types of manuevers will they ask me to perform? Any personal stories/experiences/tips would help and be greatly appreciated...I really want to pass! What mistakes result in an automatic failure? I live in Southern California.

Answer:
On the written test you must know all the signs and what they all mean. You have to know what to do in dangerous situations, how to pull over in a police situation, etc. During the driving part of the test make sure when you turn left or right at an intersection you turn into the correct lane...ie turning left at a light put on you blinker (very important!) and make sure you turn into the immediate left lane as you're turning. Same thing with turning right; turn into the immediate right lane. Besides that just know how to parallel park, always use your blinkers and just try not to switch lanes!! GOOD LUCK!!!

Don't run a yellow light. Both hands on the wheel. Don't touch the tester's knee. Stop before crosswalks. Always keep your eyes moving. Get that cell phone away from your ear. No texting either. When switching lanes, use turn signal, look, then switch lanes in that order. Don't hit any other cars. No picking your nose and flicking it out the window. Or wiping it under the seat. That's a distraction. And gross.

Where I'm from it depends on the instructor on the time it takes to finish the driving test. It could be as quick as 2 minutes or as long as half an hour. learn all the traffic signs and make sure you get practice driving before you go out. uphill downhill, yellow lines, white lines, railroad crossings, fire hydrates, merging, three position turning, drinking and driving 0.08, and so on.

Good tip is to basically use common sense while taking it.

for the written exam, expect the uncommon questions, but on the actual driving test stay focus, usually the examiner would take to school zone, residential area, and observed you, then take you to a busy section like an intersection, drive around 2 to 3 blocks maybe it would last for 10 to 15 minutes... good luck!

All the questions you think they will not ask while you are reading the book. :-)

Up here in Ontario Canada, mine was VERY easy. It only lasted about 15min at the most. I had to park on a hill, parallel park, drive around (stop at stop signs, stop at stop lights at a major intersection, one-way streets) that kind of stuff. Then I had to back into a parking space at the end lol. You can't get an automatic failure, we learned that in drivers' ed. You can get a bad mark on something, but you can't fail for just one thing, only if you suck at EVERYTHING.
