What is the best car battery in India?

Increase the battery power in my car for the sound system?

  • Sorry for the long back story I recently got a new sound system installed in my car. Its a duel 12" fusion subs with a 900 watt fusion AMP. I do not have a cap hooked to it. After about a week of having it installed the battery light on the dash board started turning on, not for long maybe for only 5 or 10 seconds then turn off. this slowly started to become more frequent. (The red light according to the car manual means the alternator is not charging the battery) But about another week after it started happening i left the car running but on batter power only ( the engine was not on) while also listening to music for about 30 to 40 min. After this had happened i had to drive about a hour to get home and the battery light was coming on for much longer periods and more frequently. once i had arrived home i turned off the car and tried to start it again, and yes the battery was flat, and this was a 3 month old battery The next day the local mechanic came around the replaced the battery and took the old one back the garage to see if it would charge, they left it on the charger overnight and it charged successful. I told them about the light and they turned the car on and put a multimeter on it to see if the alternator was charging properly, and it was and the battery light was off. Also when the mechanic came around and put the new battery in i disconnected the power fuse that ran to the amp so that it would no longer take any power from the battery, but then when driving around the battery light came on again, only for about 5 or so seconds but it came on with no connection to the amp. But now that i have the old battery in that had been charged, the battery light is again starting to come on again. So after asking a few questions on yahoo and looking around online it seems i have a few options on what to do, but i would just like some advice and reinsurance that these options will actual work. 1. One of the first things that i have been told to do is get a Power cap fitted for the amp, from what i understand this wont stop the battery from going dead but will ease the strain the AMP is putting on the battery and steadily use the energy from the battery instead of taking huge chunks of power. 2. The next suggestion is the get a Yellow Top Optima battery, and apparently these are the best types of batteries to have if you car has a hight demand of power for electronic equipment, because they charge fast and can store a huge amount of power. 3. The third option was to get a higher output alternator that would be able to keep up with the strain that the amp is putting on the battery 4. The fourth I'm leaning away from since it sounds like the most hassle and most expensive but to get a second battery to power the audio only, this would then be charged via a split-charge relay running to the main car battery. The way this will work is when the car's main battery is fully charged it will then start to charge the audio battery so this way no impact on performance of the vehicle and no excess strain on the alternator. SO what would be the best solution. I will be getting a power cap regardless. so the yellow top battery, a higher output alternator, or the second battery. which is the best way to go, or do you have another solution. PLEASE PLEASE leave any advice you may have, its VERY APPRECIATED -Thanks

  • Answer:

If you get a performance alternator and the cap that you said you are going to get you should be O.K. The important thing is that the cars charging system has to be able to create and store more power than the electronics are using. Adding an extra battery and cap will only extend the length of time that it takes to drain the batteries. Unless you replace that power you will end up with the same problem no matter how many batteries you add. Hope I have been helpful.

the 4th. is the best as you can do that cheaper than one optima battery, never a good idea to use vehicle in the accessory mode for more than a very few minutes as the battery is getting no charge from the alternator.
