Texas drivers license requirements?

16 year old new Texas resident cannot obtain drivers license without drivers ed?

  • We recently moved from Missouri to Texas. We have a 16 year old who is a licensed driver in Missouri. When we went to get his Texas license, we had a fax from the state of Missouri stating he had completed all the requirements and was a licensed driver. However, Texas is requiring us to make him take drivers ed at a cost of over $300. Is it legal for the state of Texas to do this since he is already a licensed driver? it seems so unfair. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Answer:

what is the age for a license in TX? I know in NJ, you get it at 17 and you NEED to pass drivers ed and a behind the wheel program...but my bf just moved to NJ from PA, he had a license from PA, and he just got a NJ license without a problem....I would think that if he already has a license, he shouldnt need to..i would look into it further
