Chevrolet mileage estimates "based on EPA estimates and segmentation". What smoke is GM blowing here

The fuel econamy testing is done by the federal govenments Envyromental Protection Agencyn Chevrolet has nothing to do with the actual testing. The test the EPA uses is out dated and will be revised soon. Right now they run the car at 55mph for highway testing and have a special course the vehicles are driven through to simulate city driving. suposedly in the next year or two the test will be revised to simulate more like the way people actualy drive. If you think it's bad now you should have seen the first EPA tests the manufactures would send prototypes with no back seats smaller water pumps and alternators higher axel ratios and over inflated tires to boost the EPA estamates.

if it cannot be as good as its competitors, it applies the legally correct statement. Ignore this brand

good observation mr observer.....aint smoke just selective truth...."hummer is rated 20 mpg hyway" lol...by now if u dont understand what EPA mileage means u deserve what u get.

GM is blowing (and sucking) the same smoke as the rest of the new car dealers. We can only hope the new Volt car will be more accurate for mileage, but don;t hold your breath.
