What happens when a car is written off?

What happens if someone drives a borrowed car and hits a double parked car?

  • So someone borrowed a car from a friend and there was a double parked car on a very busy street with the driver in the car. There was crazy traffic and the driver of the borrowed car wz trying to pass and they hit the double parked car as they were passing. Since there wz no where to pull over or anything the driver with the borrowed car just continued driving and they aren't sure if the liscence plate wz written down by the driver they hit...... Way happens? Even if its not like a crazy bad hit,....if they took the liscence plate # what happens??

  • Answer:

As weird as this may sound, but the owner of the car is responsible for the charges. :/ True story! It's the law. But my friend wasn't driving? It doesn't matter, it's his car and he let his friend drive his own vehicle. If the person who got hit was smart enough to write down the license plate then obviously their going to call the police and give the information. Your friend is in huge trouble! If the police finds out about the HIT AND RUN there will be some SERIOUS charges. One for the owner of the car, and the other for the driver.

Plead stupidity. Admit to nothing. You'll be fine.

The car shouldnt have been parked there in the first place, And if the driver had have obeyed the law and not double parked etc then there would have been a colission in the first place. But the other person still left the scene of an accident and IF a licence plate was taken then they will get points on their licence and most probably a fine too.

You could be charged with leaving the scene of an accident! Go to the police station and tell them that you would like to report an accident and tell them all the particulars. Also report this to your insurance company. Do the right thing.

It's called hit and run, the police will arrest the person who owns the car, most likely.
