Electric scooters legal in west palm beach florida?

I'm thinking of getting one as a way to get to college (i'm sixteen) i'm not able to apply for my driving license as I was in the UK at the time (this also explains why I am in college which is considered young here :S). Will i be able to operate an electric scooter on the pavement without getting in any trouble?

technically, you need to have a valid drivers license to operate the scooter (gas or electric) on the roads. that said, many younger kids ride the electric scooters on the sidewalks. while this is illegal, they don't get hassled by anyone as long as they are being courteous. I think you need to consider how long the ride is and make a judgement call. you certainly can get in trouble but if you are careful and don't bother others, you most likely will not. if you do get in trouble, the first time will likely be just a warning unless you hurt someone.
