What can I do to learn more about working on cars...?

I'm not looking to become a mechanic or anything. I'm currently in the Air Force and at the end of my enlistment I should have a very, very good job in the technology industry, but I love cars and I really want to learn how to work on them. You know, general maintenence, upgrades, etc. I want to be able to customize my car without having to pay someone to do absolutely everything.

go to the library, go to auto shops and asks if you can watch them in action, go to google. or go to mechanic school there are several free courses out there.

just build an easy engine.. get a block and go on summit and just built the sh*t out of it mopar are the most expencive but most rare chevy are the most common so there cheeper and eiser to find fords are the easiest to build in my mind and they are the most relable.. great starter build!
