Why doesn't a Nissan truck run smooth in overdrive?

Overdrive car/truck I here people talk and they just don't know,Overdrive has been around for many years.?

  • 1.A gearing mechanism of a motor vehicle engine that reduces the power output required to maintain driving speed in a specific range by lowering the gear ratio. 2.A high gear used at high speeds to maintain the driving speed with less output power 3.a gear in a motor vehicle providing a gear ratio higher than that of the drive gear or top gear, so that engine speed and fuel consumption are reduced in highway travel. 4,When you use overdrive gearing, your car's engine speed goes down. This saves gas and reduces engine wear at higher road speeds. 5,Under normal use, the overdrive function allows you to save on fuel. It is a part of modern automatic transmissions turning it off or on . The overdrive function is best used on normal driving conditions on relatively flat roads for best fuel economy. It is usually turned off when towing since more torque is required to tow and when going downhill to make use of engine braking (otherwise with the OD on, the car would still accelerate even if you take your foot off the pedal going downhill) 6,Off for city driving, upand down big hills and towing or halling big loads also off when your on snow and ice,On when your on the highway above 45 MPH and not towing heavy loads.

  • Answer:

over drive is any time that the output is turning at a rate that is greater than the input is, this decreases the amount of fuel used at higher(freeway) speeds.
