Is it possible to get a drivers permit at 15 in Texas?

Do i qualify for a hardship? and how long do i have to have my permit to get a hardship in texas?

• In the state of Texas, a 15 year old may qualify for a hardship to go to school and back. I'm 15, and is in drivers ed, about to receive my permit. I need a hardship to drive to school everyday. I live 30 minutes from my school, and I live with my mother. My father is currently living in another county. I have no other way for transportation. My mom does not have a job because she cannot get a job with a schedule of my school. She needs to obtain a job soon, because we are having financial problems since we have no income. All of my family lives out of state, therefore, I need a way to get to school. There is no public transportation where I live, so that is out of the question, and I live 20 miles out of the bus route. I need to know how long I would need my permit to receive a hardship. I would wait to get my regular license, but in my family's situation, I need to drive myself sooner. Please tell me the answers to my questions. I know that some states do not offer hardships like Texas does, so I expect some to comment saying "you can't get a hardship if your under 18!" or, "Texas kids all apply for hardships."   Well Trixie, do realize that a Hardship License is a privilege that a state offers drivers who are younger then required age. By and large it's a case by case basis for various reasons including school, medical, family, and job related reasons that a minor goes without adult supervision. Some states define hardship differently as well as terms and stipulations. Not all states offer hardships so keep in mind if your state doesn't... special privileges might exists.
