Current fuel prices in Kenya?

National Do Not Buy Gas Days And Diesel Fuel Days in protest of high fuel prices ?

  • Someone needs to start a National No Buy Gas or Diesel Fuel Day in protest of the high gas prices. No diesel fuel purchases by big trucks like 18 wheelers would have a huge impact. Why? Because a working 18 wheeler fills up with diesel at least once per day. The average fill up is about 200 gallons. That's more than $600.00 per truck. Also, no fuel in the trucks, the trucks do not move. Stuff does not get delivered. There are over a million diesel powered trucks out there on this nations roadways at any one time. Thats over $600 million dollars in lost fuel revenue to these big oil companies, alone. If the nations car owners did not buy gas....think 10 gallon fill up each....$30.00 per car times millions of cars. In just one day, oil companies would lose almost half a year's worth of profit. My brother works for an oil company, he says that if everyone in the country did the no buy gas thing for just 2 days, gas prices would drop to record lows. Why can't Americans do that ?

  • Answer:

This is an urban legend and won't work. New emails are circulating again, but this has been discussed since 1997. Americans will not inconvenience themselves and go without gas. Are you going to ride your bike to work every day? A one day, two day or five day boycott will not work either. The only thing it would accomplish is a long line at the gas pump after the boycott ends. If everyone would would boycott Exxon and Mobil, it could have an impact, but that won't happen either. Americans are too lazy to find the next gas station. Were in a hurry and we want to get gas when we want it and move on quickly. I can't believe this is still circulating. This urban legend is on par with: Mikey from Life cereal died from eating Pop Rocks and drinking Pepsi.

Okay, think about it, if you refuse to fill up your gas tank today then the oil companies lose out on money today. But guess what when you need to fill up you need to fill up unless you are giving up driving forever. The oil companies get their money no matter what, it may just be a day or two later.

Americas is addicted to oil but i my city may 15 is the dont buy gas day

sydney

because we're addicted to gas, and the demand is greater than the supply, and we're too lazy to walk or ride a bike Its $6.00 a gallon in some places in Europe, so I'm not going to complain.. this happens every year, every summer

i bet ur azz dont ride a bike or walk! not buyin gas for one day, or two days, or three days, or four days, or five days, or six days, or a week aint gonna work. think about it. the only way to make the oil companies suffer, is through an alternate source of energy. until all cars have options of something alternate, there's no competition, and your boycott will only be temporary, as you will eventually find the need to buy gas once again. so on day i may not need to buy gas and that will be my no buy gas day. oh, but charlie's tank is on 'E.' get the point. somebody's gotta buy gas as long as gas is gas.

ultima_fost

I think we already do. At least we do in my part of the country, my husband and I both refuse to purchase gas on that day. I can't remember when it was though.

I'm in. Unfortunately, I'm in the minority. It's a shame, but the bottom line is that Americans are too complacent to do anything about prices at this time. My own opinion is that until it costs politician's their jobs, there will be no reform. I'm not a big fan of bigger government, but I do believe that the role of government is to protect its' citizens. I do not believe they are doing so in the case of allowing oil companies to get by with what has happened over the past several years. Only a complete revolt by citizens in the form of ousting the politicians that are not listening to us will result in any positive changes. We can only hope.
