Aftermarket Car Alarm Help?

Car alarm help please!?

  • My car alarm has been installed about 8 years ago. When it was first installed, it was so sensitive that if an airplane flew by, it would go off. We went back to the Honda dealership years ago to get it adjusted so it won't be so sensitive. Now it's not so sensitive anymore. However, the past few weeks, the alarm doesn't go off or anything unless somebody tries to break in of course, but about every morning or afternoon, the alarm I guess would go "beep beep beep" a total of 3 small beeps each time. I don't know what that means, because there's nothing around the car. Not even a person walking by or anything messing with it or any noise that would trigger it. So when the car beeps 3 times a day, about maybe once or twice everyday when nothing is around, does that mean there is something wrong with the alarm and can it do damage to the car? It's been 8 years, you think if I go back to the dealership where they installed it, it'll be free or charge to adjust? Please give me some insight into what you think is most likely making those 3 beeps everyday. Thanks so much, look forward to your help!

  • Answer:

It is not standard equipment so we would have to know more about it, such as the maker of the alarm, the model, etc. But it should come with a manual that tells you whether this beeping is normal or not. You should also know that alarms draw a lot of current, so if you don't intend to drive it for over a week, either put a trickle charger on the battery, or disconnect it.
