Aftermarket Car Alarm Help?

Car alarm question, please kindly help?

• Ok, so my car alarm has been acting funny. The alarm has been installed 8 years ago, so it's out of warranty. Quoted a price at different car alarm installation places but way too expensive just to diagnose it so I have to hold off on that. And I'm really dumb when it comes to cars as I am totally not a car person. So if anyone can give me some clues that would be great. Thought my car alarm was too sensitive but I don't think that's the case because there's nothing around it that would have a reason to trigger the sound of the alarm and at random times about once or twice a day, the car or car alarm would make 3 small honking beeps. I'm not sure what that means. However, it doesn't go off or anything, but just those 3 small honking beeps once or twice a day. The car runs fine and it does lock and everything. The noise is just rather annoying. Is there something wrong with the alarm and is this normal? Should I have anything to worry about? Didn't do that before but just started a few weeks ago. Any clues or solutions would be appreciated, thanks!

  The problem is likely what's called a "shock sensor". It will be found underneath the dash probably on the driver side and will be a little box mounted maybe on some kind of metal strip. It WILL have a regular screw type adjustment for sensitivity and is probably going off over the wind or something stupid like that. A car stereo could probably set it off...a hot rod with loud mufflers? Just turn the screw adjustment down a bit (counter-clockwise) and stay away from the dudes that want to "diagnose" it. The 3 chirps means it's thinking about going off for real.
