  wow thats a lot of questions. Well first off all states have different taxes on gas which effects your prices, New york as the highest at about .62 per gallon, and alaska has the lowest at about .22 per gallon. Add on the federal tax onto the gas which is .14-.16 per gallon and you have half your price right there. The reason the prices are so high is because OPEC is behind in producing Oil, also since the hurricanes rita and katrina destroyed most of the gulf, america is behind on producion also. Hybrids are great, but you have to remember they are faily new, you dont know what kind of problems they are going to have with theyre electrical engine, it is still too new to make an investment in. Your best bet would be to trade in the trailbalzer for something more fuel efficent for the next 2 years. by then theyere will be either an alternative or hybrids will be cheaper. The last big oil crisis was a shortage, and the prices were no where near as high. GM is starting to make cars that run off ethonal which is much cleander and cheaper.
