Do you think it’s too expensive to drive to Sentosa with the cost of vehicle entry increased to S$7 and why?

  • SenDentosa Development Corporation (SDC) has revised its pricing strategy for vehicles entering the island in an attempt to encourage more to use public transport. This is aimed at improving traffic conditions in view of the opening of Resorts World Sentosa later this month. Private vehicles entering Sentosa from January 18 will pay a charge, which varies according to the time and day. For example, it will cost S$6 to enter the island between 7am and just before noon on weekdays. On weekends and public holidays, it will cost S$7between 7am and 7pm. Currently, each private vehicle is charged S$2 and each passenger in the vehicle must pay an additional S$2 when entering Sentosa. Do you think it’s too expensive to drive to Sentosa with the cost of vehicle entry increased to S$7 and why?

    Just to have a nice Sunday family picnic with small young kids, packed foods, picnic baskets, and many more necessities. And to travel from Woodlands to Sentosa by bus/mrt so as to avoid the cost of vehicle entry of $7..??? It sure is an expensive attempt to encourage visitors to use public transport, painstakingly!! Aim ------->> improve traffic conditions in the island. With the increased of vehicle entry charges soon, Singaporeans in such scenario like above, would just opt for East Coast Beach, Changi Beach, or Pasir Pis Beach instead of Sentosa (so SDC has nothing to worry in reaching the aim). To drive their cars (packed with picnic "necessities") to these beaches definately has no vehicle entry charges imposed on them. Definately no charges for individuals too! Here's a little suggestion: Why not keep the vehicle entry charges the same ($2)? So we won't grumble and whine and complain...so there won't be a decline in visitors' flow. Or raise it up to $7, and people will stop coming, and SDC shall lose (1) vehicle entry charges alongside with (2) passengers in-vehicle charges ($2 each) The reason as "to improve traffic conditions" is getting lamer. The same was given back then in cases of More ERP Gantries and Increased In ERP Charges. Well, whatever answers/views each of us voiced out, proposals such as this will be implicated eventually. So much for Q n A.... And thus this question ---> Are we really heard?

The price is fair enough. One must pay more to enjoy the benefit of using the facilities. By driving to Sentosa, one enjoy the comfort in their own vehicle, own time own target, to reach Sentosa. If one is taking public transport, queue is needed and time is more constrained because there is schedule to the working hours of public transport.

the price of comfort, and a seated ride for only seven bucks is fair. Even if it got to ten, its still reasonable. The public transport is good when going with friends. However its more convenient and easier to plan a sentosa day with personal transport. No complains here.

Frankly, most local visit Sentosa just for the beach. It's really sad, but true to say, Singapore although is a island country, but there is no nice beach around. Of course, beaches at Sentosa should be consider as the "best" in Singapre. In frank, when the Government intend to build IR at Sentosa, I will expect the entrance fee will increase. Spend $7 to drive to Sentosa just for the beach is definitely too high a price. I will choose to drive to East Coast of Malaysia. Again, it's more sad now, as the "best" beach in Singapore had become too expensive. A island country without a nice beach which is free to go??? What a joke!
