  • I'm not looking for: "7 million people a year" or "115 people a day". That's what I keep finding when I search this in google. I want to know- what are the chances that I (or you, an American) will die in a car accident? (x% of people will die from heart disease, x% from cancer, x% in sky diving accidents, etc)

More people die in car accidents than they do in the army. I would say about 55% of the people die die in car accidents. I mean, come on, with all the sell phones and texting while driving. Where has the world come to.

If you read the data real careful regarding vehicle fatalities, you'll discover 2 things - 1. The numbers are estimates only based on info provided by state and local reporting agencies. 2. Only those deaths that occur within 30 days of the mishap are counted. Deaths from motor vehicle mishaps are rated in the top 20 as cause of death in the US.
