What's the driving age in PA?

Is the driving age in PA changed?

  • I heard the driving age is being changed to 17 which really makes me pissed cuz i'm 15!! My mom always has to drive me to school and we were kind depending on me being able to drive to school in 10th grade. But then someone told me its gonna be 18 and I'll be in college by then which is so unfair! but then someone told me its not true but idk

  • Answer:

It hasn't changed yet. Since it hasn't been changed yet you don't need to worry about it.

But then someone told me... And you believed it, and didn't check it out? That has been a right of passage for as long as I can remember, those that got theirs tell those coming up that the rules changed, and they have to be 18, 21 or whatever other age they make up. Urban Legend is what it is, and the rules have not changed which you would have seen my going to the web page. Obtaining Your Driver’s License An initial Learner's Permit is issued to any individual, 16 years of age or older, who has never been licensed to operate a vehicle, a new resident who has never been licensed, or a new resident who has been licensed in another state but whose driver's license has been expired longer than 6 months. If you are a new resident to PA, please visit our New Resident information page. See, nothing changed.
