What is the michigan age requirement to drive a moped?
-
I am 13 and want to drive a moped to school when it starts, but I don't know the age requirement. I went to michigan.gov to look it up, but it was quite vague. I know all the other details, just not the age requirement!

Answer:
15. "License Requirements If you do not have a valid operator or chauffeur license and are at least age 15, you may apply for a special moped license. You are not eligible for a moped license if your operator or chauffeur license is suspended, revoked or denied unless the suspension is for a medical reason. You must meet ID requirements, pass a vision, knowledge and traffic sign test to obtain a moped license. You do not have to pass a driver education course or a road skills test. Check with a local Secretary of State branch office for the vision standards, which differ from those required for a regular operator license. If you are under age 18, a parent or legal guardian must sign your license application. You must give up your moped license if you obtain a regular operator or chauffeur license. The original moped license fee is $7.50. Applicants who are under 20 years, 6 months old receive a moped license valid until their 21st birthday. Any other moped license expires four years from the applicant's last birthday. The four-year renewal fee is $6."

Moped licenses are available for those age 15 and over who do not have another valid driver's license. Applicants must pay a small fee and take vision, road skills and knowledge tests, as well as provide proper ID to receive their license. Those with current valid driver's licenses do not need to apply for a separate license or pay special fees to drive a moped. Drivers age 15 to 18 must have a parent or guardian sign the license application. The license will only be valid until the driver applies for a regular operator license. Moped-only licenses are valid for up to four years. Read more: Michigan State Driving Laws for a Moped | eHow.com http://www.ehow.com/list_6147357_michigan-state-driving-laws-moped.html#ixzz1W6HGDSiT
Yup
Just for your info .... a moped has pedals... if you are talking about a scooter like vespa etc. ( no pedals ) . you have to have a motor cycle lic to ride them. lots of people call scooters ,mopeds . But they are not mopeds. Only thing you can ride at 13 is a bicycle.

Mark is right on the nose. Accept most bikes under 250cc doesn't require anything. But the age is most likely 16.
